Abstract
Background and Purpose: High blood pressure in pregnancy is the main cause of many maternal and fetal complications and deaths, as well as one of the three main causes of maternal deaths worldwide after hemorrhage and sepsis. Therefore, proper management and control of high blood pressure in pregnancy is considered as an important key factor, and performing self-care behaviors is one of the most important strategies to control blood pressure and maintain it at a normal level. This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of education based on the health belief model on the self-care behaviors of women with high blood pressure during pregnancy materials and ways: This study was a two-group randomized controlled trial (intervention and control) that was conducted on 90 women with high blood pressure during pregnancy who referred to Al-Zahra Hospital in Rasht in 2019-2020. Data collection tools included demographic and midwifery questionnaires, researcher-made questionnaires on health belief model and self-care behaviors in high blood pressure during pregnancy. The educational intervention took place during 3 sessions of 90 minutes. Information was collected by completing questionnaires during direct interviews before the educational intervention and one month after. Finally, the data were analyzed using spss25 software and descriptive statistical methods (including frequency, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential statistics including t-test, paired t, chi-score, Ancova, and Cohen's effect. Findings: It showed that the average scores of awareness and perceived constructs of the health belief model and self-care behaviors in high blood pressure in pregnancy before and after the intervention show a significant difference (p-value < 0.001) and in other words, training based on the model Health belief has increased awareness, perceived sensitivity, perceived severity, perceived benefits, action guidelines, self-efficacy and self-care behaviors in the test group compared to the control group, and the mean score of perceived barriers has also decreased in the test group, and these differences from The opinion of Cohen's work has been very large Conclusion: Education based on HBM increased self-care behaviors in mothers with high blood pressure during pregnancy through increasing awareness and perceived constructs of the health belief model. Therefore, it is recommended to use education based on the health belief model in order to increase self-care behaviors and proper control of high blood pressure in pregnancy Keywords: Health belief pattern, self-care behaviors, high blood pressure in pregnancy
