Abstract
Abstract Background: To have an efficient method to evaluate student productivityin medical sciences, especially students of dentistryis of critical importance.Thus, a study with the goal of evaluating student satisfaction in the department of dentistry at Qazvin university, under the subdivision of periodontology, using the log book method was conducted. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive analytical study,a survey was taken from 60 dentistry students at Qazvin university who where taking periodontology courses through two questionnaires(the post examination and the pre examination), regarding the student s level of information and satisfaction for the existing methods of clinical evaluation in Periodontology. The post examination questionnaire is comprised of 26 questions and the pre examination questionnaire, of 23 and they are both conducted through log book the data was analyzed using SPSS version 20 by using statical descriptive (means standard deviation and frequency) and statical analytic paired T and independent T and χ2test were analyzed. Results: Before using the log book of student satisfaction with how clinical evaluation was 52.6% and after the use of log book, this amount reach to 88.2 percent. After using the log book showed the greatest satisfaction from teaching staff with 94.8%, and also learn how to evaluate the impact of the implementation of the log book in satisfaction was 93.4%. The average score of student satisfaction evaluation of educational objectives before using the log book was 9.68 out of 15 points, and who was using the log book reach to 11.99. In other words, in all aspects of the use of log book of how to evaluate student satisfaction with the log book had increased significantly. The mean clinical evaluation of students' satisfaction with the log book was (45.53 out of 55). Conclusion: According to these results, students show a high level of satisfaction with log book which,by some measures taken to improve it s areas of weakness, as perceived by the students,and supplementing it with other available methods,can be increased.
