Abstract

Introduction and objectives: It seems that Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is correlated with Metabolic Syndrome (MS). As MS is the risk of some high mortality events trying to understanding the etiology of it is helpful. In this study we assess the risk of OSA and its correlation with MS among Qazvin municipality personals. Materials and methods: This analytic cross-sectional study conducted on 266 Qazvin municipality personals. All the participants requested to answer the Berlin questionnaire. Also blood pressure, lipid profile and fasting blood sugar evaluated and data were analyzed by SPSS software. Results: The mean of age of participants were 38.38 years old. 58 of them was high risk for OSA and 47 of them had MS. Statistical analysis showed 37.9 % of them who were high risk for OSA had MS which was significantly higher than others (P<0.001). Conclusion: Our results showed that being high risk for OSA is correlated with MS significantly so if any evidence of each one is appear diagnostic and treatment of both of them must be considered.
