Background: The Ministry of Health in each country is responsible for providing health services to the community. This section is involving various sectors: universities, hospitals, doctors, nurses and so on. Most of these costs are about 40 percent related to the hospitals. Among the costs,60 Percent is related to human resources. In this respect, human resource costs are one of the most important issues in hospitals. Between different groups the nurses due to an ongoing relationship with patients and provide health care professional in the hospital is important. Lack of nursing workforce cause increased patient waiting time and continue to cause injuries because of not receiving timely service is to the patient. Additional human resource is reason costs increases to hospitals. Emergency department because of the importance of emergency services and first point of contact with the services has need to special attention. Nurses working in the emergency department due high working pressure and urgent activities of the management planning priority is need. Objective: The aim of this study was to estimate the number of nurses needed in hospitals emergency department Qazvin University of Medical Sciences. Methods: The research in this study is descriptive study. The method used in this study introduced in 1986 by the World Health Organization for the health sector. WISN method due to use workload, the annual workload, the work done is of high accuracy. All data entered in Excel to perform calculations were analyzed. Results: The results of this study showed additional, shortage and normal human resource are in hospital emergency departmants. The human resource required for hospitals emergency departmant BuAli 56, Shahid Rajaie 50, ghods 26, Kosar 19, Velayat 62 were estimated. WISN ratio respectively for each hospital 0.93, 1.28, 0.92, 1.26, 0.89 were estimated. Conclusion: The costs associated with additional human resource is increases the overall cost of the hospital. Requires proper planning, for accurate estimation of nurses needed are of hospital management requirements to reduce costs.
